Love....

What is LOVE?  Something that I have been thinking a lot about lately.  Here are some thoughts and what I know to be true about what love is, should be, and looks like.

Love is a choice.  It is an action that has to be continuously chosen.  It is not about the emotions and feelings….it is the choice that you are going to:

Be Patient

Be willing to wait for God’s perfect timing.

Have self-restraint.

Control your impulses, not selfish.

Be Kind

Speak softly and be caring.

Thinking of what other’s need or want.

Not Envy

Content with what you have.

Recognize your own blessings.

Be happy and joyful for others.

Not Boast

Is always humble and doesn’t brag.

Gives credit to others.

Not Be Proud

Don’t think you are better than others.

Be modest.

Don’t be arrogant or overbearing.

Not Be Rude

Be courteous and kind.

Be gracious.

Not  Be Self-Seeking

Think of others first.

Give unto others.

Not Easily Angered

Think the best of people.

Don’t jump to conclusions.

Ask questions and listens.

Keeps No Record of Wrongs

Forgive the “wrongs”.

Remember the “rights”.

Does Not Delight In Evil

Turn away from gossip.

Don’t gloat at others failures.

Rejoices With The Truth

Be happy about good things.

Tell the truth to yourself and others.

Always Protects

Protect the helpless and weak.

Protect yourself.

Always Trusts

Trust is believing God’s promises.

Pray about everything and trust Him.

Believe that all things work for good.

Always Hopes

Never give up.

Always Perseveres

Be persistent.

Be faithful.

Never Fails

Love never fails.

Love is very difficult.  Sure, there will be times of passion.  Sure, there will be times of butterflies.  But, true love…the love that I want is so much more than that.  Love is a choice that I choose every day.  I choose LOVE that will never fail, always perseveres, always hopes, always trusts, always protects, rejoices with truth, does not entertain evil, forgives, even tempered, giving, gracious, modest, humble,  content, kind, and is patient.
