New Sites I Discovered

You all know how globally minded I am. I believe in a global community where we all are equal and help/love each other across all socioeconomic barriers and religious walls.

This first website makes a comparison between living in the United States and other countries, If It Were My Home

What would be different?  What is better or worse than the US?  Very interesting website.  It, also, lists books to read to learn more about the countries.  Not, just boring academic books....but very good choices from what I can tell.  People can also make comments on the pages.  It is extremely interesting reading what people have to say.   There is a page that focuses on disasters that have occurred.  The two featured disasters at the moment are the Pakistan Flood and BP Oil Spill.  Great features on these pages.  Too bad I am no longer in the classroom, wonderful resource.  The Pakistan Flood Page has a link to pictures which are incredible: http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/08/continuing_pakistani_floods.html  

Which leads me to the second site called The Big Picture.  It tells major news stories through photography.  POWERFUL.  The current story is the Brazilian Landslides.  Pictures really are worth a thousand words.  The stories are amazing that are told. I was looking through the recent stories to pick a few I think you should browse...but wow....look through them all.

I think we should all be active in helping each other live better lives.  This last website is a great resource to learn about things that you can do to help your community either through donations, volunteerism, or support.  There are so many great things I found on this site.  I think the site speaks for itself...check it: What You Can Do 365
